Beth And Mark Fall In Love!

Beth And Mark Fall In Love!

Beth first joined Date British Guys in February 2017, and within a week of joining the site she matched with Mark. The pair clicked instantly, and they have been together ever since – so we decided to speak to the couple about their relationship!

Where are you both from?

Beth: I’m from Louisville, Kentucky and Mark is from Bradford, England. So he is my handsome Yorkshire man! After talking and video chatting for months, Mark came to visit me for the first time in October 2017… and it was amazing.

I showed him my home, he got to meet my friends and family, I introduced him to Kentucky bourbon, and we finally got to have the first kiss we’d both been waiting for. Eventually he had to head back, but I knew I would see him again soon.

In February 2018 I traveled outside of the US for the first ever time to visit England. I got to meet his family, see his home, take the train, and he kissed me in front of York Minster, Skipton castle, and every other beautiful place we could find!

As the months have passed we’ve grown closer and fallen more in love every day. I don’t remember the exact moment it happened or which one of us said it first, but at some point we both realized we want to spend the rest of our lives together. We’re both in our 40s and neither of us have ever been married. I don’t think either of us expected to fall in love at this point in our lives, and definitely not with someone almost 4,000 miles away, but we did. So far it’s been the most wonderful adventure. We can’t wait to start our lives together.

What do you love about each other?

Mark: The thing I love the most about Beth is her caring attitude towards me and her constant support. She honestly loves me like I’ve never been loved before. To put it simply… she makes me happy. I feel like we’re a team. We’re so good together. I hope that eventually we will get married and settle down in the US.

Beth: Mark is unfailingly kind. He always gives more and does more than is expected. He’s easy going, rarely has a hard word or criticism for anyone, and he never complains about anything. I tend to be anxious and I worry and let things upset me, but he can always calm me down. I don’t know how he does it when he’s nearly 4,000 miles away, but he can tell me everything is going to be okay and that things almost always work out for the best, and hearing that from him makes me feel better. He’s such a wonderful, genuine, caring person. He honestly inspires me to be a better person and to strive to be the best version of myself.

Do either of you have any advice for singles on Date British Guys?

Mark: Take note of where the other person is from.. and remember that not everybody from Britain is from London and not everybody from the US is from New York! So try to take a real interest in where the other person is from.

You should also be patient and understanding of the other person; remember you’re both from different countries, so there could be some misunderstandings or confusion. It can also be useful to research the other person’s city.

Beth: Texting is great, but remember you don’t have tone, inflection, and facial expressions. Jokes can fall flat and misunderstandings can happen. Different countries have their own expressions and different meanings for the same words. Always assume the best of each other and ask if you aren’t sure. Use an app to video as often as you can. It really helps with the distance.

What made you want to join Date British Guys?

Beth: One of the things that attracted me to join Date British Guys was the thought of finding a gentleman. Mark really does have beautiful English manners. He’s so thoughtful and romantic. More than once I’ve mentioned something in conversation like a book I’d like to read or something I like and the thing shows up as a surprise in my mailbox.

My favorite gift is a scrapbook he sent me Christmas 2017. He said he thought I would enjoy collecting all our photos, flight itineraries, ticket stubs… and then we could look back on those things one day when we’re older.

To paraphrase a favorite quote of mine, Mark is a three page love letter in a world of relationship status updates. He’s so wonderful, and I feel so blessed and lucky that we found each other. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with this man. So thank you, Date British Guys!

We are so happy that Beth and Mark met and get to spend the rest of their lives with each other. Congratulations, Beth and Mark!
