5 Tips For Online Dating

You’re ready to meet someone new, but you’re not sure how to. You don’t want to meet your next partner at the local bar, and your friends don’t have anyone to set you up with.

For people who dislike the old-fashioned dating methods, online dating is the best way to meet someone. Internet dating has come a long way, and there isn’t a stigma to it anymore. According to the Online Dating Association, it is now the most popular way for couples to meet in Britain.

If you want to make sure you have a successful online dating experience, here are some tips to help.

1. Create Curiosity With Your Profile

It is important to create intrigue with your profile, as people are much more likely to message you if they are curious about you, or if they have a question for you. This is the reason why articles with titles like “7 out of 10 people are wrong about this shocking fact” are so popular; they create interest so people want to read more.

Of course you can’t create a heading like that for your own dating profile, but you can use interesting facts and intriguing words. For example, instead of saying you are a pilot, you can say “I drive planes for a living.” This makes it easy for people to message you to ask more about your job.

2. Market Yourself

There are thousands of dating profiles online, and you want yours to stand out. To do this you need to market yourself; don’t reuse old photos, take a new, flattering picture. Take the time to write a bio, instead of copying someone else’s.

3. Don’t Discourage People By Being Too Specific

It is good to give examples of your hobbies and interests, but listing your dislikes can often be a bad thing. You might hate reality TV, but your ideal partner could love it. Seeing that you dislike it will put them off messaging you, even though they would never expect you to watch reality TV with them.

4. Make A Potential Partner Wish List

There are so many profiles out there that it can be quite intimidating, so it can be useful to develop a strategy before you get online. Sit down and think about what you are looking for; do you want a long-term relationship, or a summer fling? Do you want to date someone who wants kids, or someone who already has grown-up children?

5. Choose A Site Carefully

There are lots of online dating websites out there, so it is important to find the right site for you. Some sites are completely free and some charge for membership, and it is worth noting that the people who are serious about finding a partner often use websites that charge a monthly subscription fee.

Niche sites, such as our own DateBritishGuys, are often well suited to people with specific interests, and they have less of a “meat market” feel to them. If you use a niche site, you are more likely to find people who you can personally relate to.
