5 Frustrating Things About Dating In Your 20s

Dating in your 20s can be pretty frustrating. From trying to decode texts to using dating apps and websites, it can be a minefield out there – but at least you’re not alone.

Here are 5 of the most frustrating things about dating in your 20s.

1. Having To Decode Messages And Texts

Texting and online messaging has become one of the main forms of communication for people who have just started talking to each other, but it can be difficult to know exactly what the other person is saying as no-one is totally honest and upfront. Instead of saying “I like you and I want to officially start dating”, your date says things “we should hang out later” – leaving you wondering if they really like you and want to be exclusive, or if they just have nothing better to do.

2. Pretending To Be Chill

Being chilled (AKA not expressive your feelings and emotions) seems to be a dating staple nowadays, which means that lots of people are confused (and a little stressed out) about their love lives. You could be dating someone for a few months before they even mention that they don’t believe in monogamy!

3. Painstakingly Setting Up A Decent Online Dating Profile

Online dating is one of the best ways to meet a date, but that means that everyone feels like they have to create the perfect profile to express their personality. From taking 50 pictures and trying to choose one for your profile picture to spending hours created a bio that makes you seem relaxed and cool, it is all too easy to spend far too much time crafting an online dating profile.

4. Trying To Meet Someone Without Using Tinder

Tinder is a black hole of one night stands, weird messages and ghosting, so lots of people try to avoid it if they want to find a real relationship – but it can be difficult. Sometimes it feels like everyone in the world is on the app, leaving you feeling like the only person who wants to find something tangible and real!

5. Not Knowing How To Navigate Social Media

Social media is very tough when you’ve just started dating someone. You want to tag them in a funny post, but you don’t know if they want their friends to know about you yet – and you can’t help stalking your date’s pictures and wondering who the redhead is in half of the pictures.
