2 Updates To Make To Your Dating Profile Right Now

If you are looking for love in a bar, a good first impression is essential – and if you are looking for love online, a good dating profile is just as essential.

Sadly most people have fairly generic profiles. That isn’t to say that their profiles are bad; it is just that they don’t stand out among all of the other dating profiles.

If you don’t have a great profile, many people will scroll through and quickly decide that they are not interested in you, but by making a few small changes you can increase the amount of messages that you receive.

You might doubt this, but when it comes to online dating your profile is the final deciding factor for many people, rather than your pictures or your age. If you want to improve your online dating experience, here are the two updates that you should make to your dating profile right now.

1. Updates To Your Dating Profile: Delete Your About Me And Start Again If It Is Vague

You probably already have a fairly detailed About Me section on your profile, but most About Me sections are too vague. For instance, an average about me might go something like this;

“I am not like most people that you meet. I am a genuine person who is kind and respectful, but I am also fun lover who likes to have a laugh.”

At first glance you may assume that this is a good profile, as the person is “fun loving” and “genuine”, but in reality the profile says very little about the person. For instance they have said that they are different to other people, but they haven’t said why. They have also said that they love to laugh and have fun, but they haven’t given any information about what they find fun. Most people like to laugh – but that doesn’t mean that they all like to laugh at the same things!

For this reason you should get rid of all of the generic words in your profile like “loving”, “respectful” and “funny”, and instead give examples of the things that you find funny and enjoy.

2. Write A Headline That Stands Out

On Date British Guys every member has the chance to write a headline. You should definitely take advantage of this opportunity as the headline is one of the first things that members read, and if your headline is boring it is likely that the person will click off your profile and move on to the next one.

Try to avoid using a headline that says “British man/American woman looking for love”, as stating the obvious is a waste of a headline. Instead try to convey your personality or sense of humour with a song lyric or film quote that you love. Remember that you don’t need to get serious with your headline as you can elaborate more on your personality in the About Me section.

You should also make sure to include a headline. Some people are tempted to leave part of their profiles blank to create some mystery, but in reality this tactic just comes across as lazy and disinterested, so many people will assume that you are not serious about online dating.
